Today we celebrated FFA week by honoring our Greenhand members. Greenhand members are first year high school FFA members. They got to paint their hands green and put their handprint and the year on a cabinet in the Ag. room. We also celebrated by showing our appreciation for our teachers and staff by handing out cow FFA cookies. The dress up theme for the day was dress like Ms. Wasser.

We are excited to announce the return of our in person Family Reading Night at LES on Thursday, March 2 from 5:30 - 6:30PM. Please join us!

To kick off National FFA week, Collin Adams, Robert Zimmerman, & Tyler Hohrein competed in the Meat Evaluation Competition on Saturday. The boys placed 6th in our section. Today we celebrated FFA week by watching an agricultural related movie in Ms. Wasser's class and by dressing up like Joe Dirt!

Reminder that hs boys and girls track practice will start today after school. Athletes must have a current physical and all paperwork filled out online to participate. $60 sports fee is due this week also

Thanks to Marsha Shirley and all our amazing staff who helped with our Donuts with Dads event this morning. We enjoyed seeing everyone.

Mrs. Jackson's film studies class worked on making live-action short films. They learned about writing a script and developing it into a short screenplay utilizing storyboards to help plan their productions. They created sets and chose locations and actors. Finally they learned about post-production skills including editing, adding music and credits. Meet some of our winners!

Athletic Events and News High school boys basketball starts IHSA Regional play on this Saturday Feb 18th at 4:00 vs Waterloo Gibault at Waterloo Gibault, bus time is 2:15 High school boys and girls track will have their 1st practice on Tuesday Feb 21st after school. Athletes need to have a current physical, all athletic paperwork turned in to be able to practice. $60 sports fee must be paid by March 1st High school boys baseball and high school girls softball will start practice on Monday Feb 27th after school. Practice schedules are available in the high school office. If practice must be in the gym during the first week due to weather, softball will be from 3:30-5:30 and baseball will be from 5:30-7:30 Junior high boys and girls track and Junior high soccer will have a parent, coach meeting on Tuesday March 7th at 7:00

Happy Valentine's Day. We had a lot of fun activities at LES included sorting candy hearts and then tallying and graphing results, conversation hearts science experiments (sink or float in different liquids), passing out valentines, and decorating cupcakes.

Reminder: There is no school on Monday in recognition of Presidents Day.

Athletic Event Announcements This past Saturday Senior Emily Nordmann and Sophomore Neela Missey competed at the IHSA Bowling Sectional. Emily bowled a 955 for 6 games and Neela bowled a 1083. They did not advance to state but we are proud of their accomplishments this season. Great job ladies. HS Boys Basketball lost a tough final home game vs O'Fallon First Baptist 42-39 last night. They will take on #1 seed Waterloo Gibault at Waterloo Gibault this Saturday at 4:00 in the first round of the IHSA Regional. JH Volleyball has 4 games this week, they lost at home to Germantown last night, and play All Saints at home tonight 4:00, at Dupo tomorrow at 4;15 and at Aviston at 5:00 on Thursday HS Baseball, HS Softball and HS Track parent, player, coach meeting is Wednesday at 7:00 in the HS gym

This message is to clarify the previous information sent out this morning. Elementary and Junior High students will need to be accompanied by an adult to sports games. Students who do not participate in, but are attending as fans, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball and soccer (these are the current and remaining sports for the year) need to have an adult present.

Elementary and Junior High students will need to be accompanied by an adult to all extracurricular activities after-school. We have had recent issues that require us to reinstate these attendance rules. Any student who is absent from school cannot attend extracurricular activities on the day they are absent.

These ladies are battling at IHSA Sectionals today. The afternoon session is about to begin. Good luck Emily and Neela!

Athletic Events today and this weekend Tonight NHS Cancer Awareness Night at tonight's boys basketball game vs New Athens at 6:00. Tonight's proceeds will go to an LCUSD#9 employee who has been battling cancer. Also our intramural cheerleaders will perform at halftime, so come out and support our programs tonight! Saturday HS girls bowling team members Emily Nordmann and Neela Missey will bowl at Bel Air Bowl in the IHSA Sectional at 9:00. Good luck ladies and coaches! HS girls basketball will play in the first round of the IHSA Regional at Christ Our Rock Lutheran vs Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 5:00. Good luck ladies and coaches!
