Hello. We have a strong chance for violent weather that will begin early Wednesday afternoon. The weather forecast is for thunderstorms, up to quarter sized hail, damaging winds and tornadoes. Since we already have an early dismissal for high school due to state testing ending early and several elementary school field trips that will be rescheduled, we felt it would be safer to dismiss the entire district at 1:00pm. This will hopefully get all students and staff safely home before severe weather hits. LCUSD9 will have an early dismissal at 1:00 tomorrow, Wednesday, April 13. Additionally, the School Board Meeting will be rescheduled for next Wednesday, April 20. As always our goal is to keep everyone safe and we appreciate your support. We hope everyone has a safe Break!

It is with much regret that I inform you all that the City Museum field trip that was previously scheduled for tomorrow, 04/13, has been cancelled due to the potential weather that has been forecasted. The teachers are working on rescheduling with the City Museum, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Follow-up information will be shared with you all once it is received on our end. Thank you.

On Wednesday, April 13th, 9th and 10th grade students will be taking the PSAT tests, while 11th graders will be taking the SAT. Because these tests will be taking most of the day, and disrupt the entire class schedule for LHS, Seniors will not be required to attend school on Wednesday, April 13th.
9th - 11th grade students can be dismissed once they have completed PSAT and SAT testing, which will be around 1:30. Buses will run for 9th-11th graders at 2:00.
These were the classes with the highest attendance percentages last week during IAR testing. All classes had great attendance. I'm so very proud of them and the teachers for the work that they've put in this year.

Mr. Stark's class was pleasantly surprised when they came into the classroom this morning. One of the praying mantis eggs hatched over the weekend. The class went outside during a pause in the rain showers to hold and release them. There were between 75 and 200 mantises that hatched from the one egg case.
Today's home junior high soccer game is canceled and no practice today.
Todays home softball game vs Mater Dei is canceled, girls will practice in the gym at 5:30.

Congratulations to our JH soccer team and coaches on picking up 2 wins this week atĀ Coolidge Middle School in Granite City, a 7-2 winĀ on Tuesday and then they went to Mascoutah on Thursday and won 1-0.Ā This is the first year we have had a junior high soccer team funded by the school and it is being coached by Cameron Keepper and Jesse Essenpreis.Ā They will play at home on Monday April 11th at 4:00 vs Alton Middle School. Keep it up Greyhounds!
