Hello! Lebanon CUSD#9 will be looking into possibly using E-Learning Days in lieu of Emergency Day (Snow Days) for the upcoming 2022-23 school year. E-Learning Days are limited up to 5 days and may or may not be used depending on weather forecast, timing of circumstances and several other factors. One of the biggest benefits of E-Learning Days will be the reduction of make-up school days. Information is linked concerning the use of E-Learning Day. The Board of Education will be having a public hearing concerning the tentative E-Learning Day on Thursday, August 11th at 7:00pm at Lebanon Elementary School Library. Please review the information in the hyperlink. https://5il.co/1f15m

Hello Lebanon Community School District #9 families. Our Board of Education, administrative team, staff and community continue to work hard to maximize opportunity and achievement for our students. We continue to revitalize our school curriculum, focus on professional development to optimize achievement and address the needs of our students. After much discussion and research it has been determined that we begin to utilize Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s). The purpose of a PLC’s are to increase student learning and growth, while maximizing academic opportunities. PLCs are data-driven and action-oriented through strategic intervention, so they are highly effective for identifying the core roadblocks preventing student learning and actionable to provide to students optimize learning opportunities. It is pertinent for our students' academic growth and success, that the faculty take time to evaluate individual progress along with small group (grade levels) and whole group (district) progress. This will allow us the opportunity to analyze and discuss the data, in addition to selecting and creating the best interventions, strategies, programs, and curriculums to address the deficiencies and produce the necessary growth. Lebanon CUSD#9 will be adjusting our current 2022-23 school calendar to incorporate PLC time. Fear not, our calendars have always built in additional school time each day to account for early dismissal or half day training throughout the school year. Even with the adjustment of time for PLC’s, each student will be getting the full required educational minutes throughout the school year. LCUSD#9 will begin having early dismissal on a weekly basis every Wednesday at 1:45 pm. This will allow our certified staff members a regular, structured, and consistent time to complete the appropriate data reviews and begin the process of curriculum mapping from Kindergarten to 12th grade. We will also be evaluating student needs and the resources necessary for success. This weekly early dismissal will eliminate the need for the periodical 11:15 or 2:15 early dismissal days throughout the school year, while increasing student achievement and lifelong success. We appreciate your support as we change the school calendar for next year in order to help meet the needs of our students. Thank you again as we strive for Excellence in Education Everyday. Hello, I hope that everyone has had an opportunity to have a wonderful summer break. We are working hard through the summer to fill staff vacancies, complete facility work and upgrades, clean classrooms and buildings, and prepare for the year ahead. We also have so many exciting academic opportunities that we have been working on in order for an even better school year. At the High School, we continue to utilize our Covid Grant funds to help upgrade our curriculum, purchase text books, equip each classroom with new interactive smart boards, continue upgrading our internet and connectivity, and be able to buy much needed student and teacher desks throughout the building. We have also been looking to expand on some of our classroom elective options such as Agricultural, Vocational and Dual Credit Programs. Additionally, please help us welcome our new High School/Junior High School Principal, Kim Emrick, who comes to us with many years of successful administrative and teaching experience. At the Elementary School, we also continue to use Covid Grant Funds to help improve academic programs as well as upgrading curriculum for our students. Each classroom will also have new interactive smart boards. We will continue to expand our Intramural and Enhancement Programs to help serve our students. Finally, we will continue to upgrade our student devices, internet and connectivity at the Elementary Building. Lots of exciting academic opportunities and changes for Lebanon CUSD #9. I am reaching out to all parents to see if anyone would be interested in starting up a junior high and high school athletic booster club. We have not had one since 2010 and we will likely have to start from the ground up in regards to putting together a constitution, by-laws etc... and filing for a new 503C for tax purposes. Please reach out to me at ccruthis@lcusd9.org if you are interested in helping get an athletic booster club started back up at Lebanon CUSD#9. Hopefully there is enough interest to hold an informational meeting and see if we can get the ball rolling. Thank you for your time and hopefully your interest in this project.
