Athletes of the Week Oct 6th-Oct 11th

Volleyball

This week’s JV Volleyball Athlete of the Week goes to Carlee Ripperda. Carlee is a player who has continuously made it her mission to bring this program full of positive life every single day. She gives her all in practice, pushes her teammates to be better, and never fails to bring a positive attitude to the court. Her hard work and team spirit make a huge impact on our JV squad. On the court Carlee has been a huge factor with her hitting and blocking abilities. Coach Kempfer and I are extremely proud of Carlee and how much she has bought into this program this year and the work she's put in. Congratulations Carlee!

Varsity Athlete of the week. Naomi Krumsieg

Naomi is this week’s Varsity Volleyball Athlete of the Week. Naomi has truly made her presence known both on and off the court with her play and character. Naomi on the court has been a huge factor for the team this season from both her hitting and blocking abilities. Naomi currently leads the team in blocks with a total of 31 Blocks. Last week vs Sparta Naomi recorded 3 solo blocks with 6 kills along with it. Coach Kempfer and I are truly proud of the work Naomi has put in for this season, and were excited to see her continue to grow as the season continues forward. Congratulations Naomi!

Cross Country

Addison "LA" Durbin works hard and pushes herself at meets. The night meet at East Alton Wood River , the meet was a fast meet and she place 2nd in her sophomore group. Immediately preceding her race she took care of another athlete. Showing compassion while maintaining her status as a top performer for cross country! Congratulations Addison!

Last week, our Kindergarten classes concluded their unit on letters with a fantastic Alphabet Parade through the school hallways! Each student designed a vest to represent a letter of the alphabet and probably showcase their learning. Students from other grades lined the hallways to cheer on our Kindergartners and celebrate their growth. It was a joyful event, highlighting, creativity, learning, and school spirit!

Hey Greyhounds! LCUSD#9 now has a Perry weather, weather station mounted on the roof near the south entrance doors to the gymnasium. This is a great addition to our campus! The weather station provides us with hyperlocal data to help track incoming weather, WBGT, Road conditions in our area, 24/7 access to a meteorologist and more. If you are on campus for one of our sporting events, and hear the siren go off, that is a signal that lightning is in the area. All fans and athletes will be directed to take shelter immediately. When you hear the sirens, that is our que to clear all athletic fields. When lightning is outside of a 10 mile radius there will be another siren indicating the “all clear”; all spectators and athletes may then return to the field and resume play. Safety of our students, fans and student athletes is always our number one priority!
