LCUSD #9 Families, Good evening! Due to the forecast for continued snow showers throughout the night and the potential for hazardous travel conditions, Lebanon CUSD #9 will be utilizing an E-Learning Day tomorrow, Wednesday, February 19, 2025. This decision is being made this evening to allow parents of elementary students time to develop a proactive plan, as opposed to waiting to assess the road conditions during the early morning hours. A decision will be made on any after school extracurricular events by 12pm tomorrow. That decision will be communicated with coaches/sponsors to share with their respective team members and posted on the website and social media outlets shortly after that. When we return to school on Thursday morning, it’s supposed to be extremely cold with single digit temperatures and wind chills below zero. Please be prepared for the cold weather by dressing in layers and wearing a coat, hat, and gloves if you are outside for any length of time. Our school staff members will be prepared for longer than normal parent drop off lines, and we will be patient and excuse any tardies that are a result of these longer lines. Thank you, in advance, for helping us keep all students safe and warm. I appreciate your continued patience, understanding, and flexibility! Be safe and stay warm, Matt Noyes, Ed.D. Tuesday, February 18, 2025 LCUSD#9 Families, I hope you enjoyed the three day weekend! It’s hard to believe that we are already halfway through the third grading period. Please help us in reminding your child of the importance of regular daily attendance and work completion. Regular attendance and a positive work ethic are two of the greatest predictors of academic success at any grade level. We want all of our Greyhounds to be set up for second semester success by finishing the third quarter strong! Mother nature has been less than kind to us so far in 2025. Here we are starting another week with another potential winter storm on the way. I know that last Wednesday’s storm didn’t quite pan out as predicted, and as it turned out we could have made it safely to and from school. My primary concern is keeping students and staff safe based on the most up to date information we can obtain from the National Weather Service in St. Louis. Last week’s storm included borderline temperatures hovering around 32 degrees, and it weakened significantly after the decision had already been made. As you know, we ended up just getting a little bit of rain and some wet streets. Hindsight will always be 20/20, and last week was a miss. This week, the temperatures are much colder, so any precipitation that falls will be in the form of snow, which has the ability to coat streets and make travel more difficult. Students and staff will be preparing for an E-Learning Day for tomorrow just in case, but please stay tuned to emails and text messages, as a decision on school will likely not be made until later this evening. In the event that we would need to utilize another E-Learning Day, please be reminded of our state-approved plan that is located on the district website and attached here for your convenience. In the meantime stay safe and warm! It’s supposed to be extremely cold with wind chills potentially dipping below zero multiple days this week. Let’s make it a great week, Greyhounds! Educationally yours, Matt Noyes, Ed.D. There is no school tomorrow, Monday, January 20th, in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. All LCUSD#9 families should check their email for the January Update.

Sunday, January 19, 2025 LCUSD#9 Families, Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the holiday season with family and friends. Thanks again for your patience and understanding with the January 7th and 8th Snow Days and the January 10th E-Learning Day. The emergency snow days will need to be made up at the end of the school year, which results in a revision to our school calendar. The last day of school will now be the day after the Memorial Day holiday, Tuesday, May 27th, and this will be an early dismissal day for all LCUSD students. The exact dismissal times will be announced once plans for make-up final exams have been finalized. While we certainly hope the worst of the winter weather is behind us, the final day of school may need to be adjusted again to account for any other emergency snow days. Our tentative plan is to make sure that all students are prepared for an E-Learning Day each day that they leave school for the remainder of the winter season. This means that our elementary school students should be bringing their snow folders home each day, and our junior high and high school students should make sure they have their chromebooks at home each evening. In the event that we would need to utilize another E-Learning Day, please be reminded of our state-approved plan that is located on the district website and attached here for your convenience. PowerSchool Data Breach Update: We received the attached information from PowerSchool on Friday, January 17th. We will keep you informed if we hear any other updates in the coming days, but some families may begin to hear from PowerSchool in the near future. As a reminder, there will be no school tomorrow, Monday, January 20th in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A couple of my favorite Dr. King quotes are worth considering and acting on as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” “The time is always right to do what is right.” I hope that all students, staff, and families will spend some time reflecting on these truths and Dr. King’s efforts towards equality and justice for all. I hope you enjoy the three-day weekend. Stay safe and warm! When we return to school on Tuesday morning, it’s supposed to be extremely cold with wind chills potentially dipping below zero. Please be prepared for the cold weather by dressing in layers and wearing a coat, hat, and gloves if you are outside for any length of time. Our school staff members will be prepared for longer than normal parent drop off lines, and we will be patient and excuse any tardies that are a result of these longer lines. LCUSD9 Families, Good evening! Due to the forecast for more snow and the potential for hazardous road and parking lot conditions resulting from this additional snowfall, Lebanon CUSD9 will be utilizing an E-Learning Day tomorrow, Friday, January 10, 2025. Elementary students should have taken home their inclement weather folders today, and junior and senior high school students should have their chromebooks with them in order to participate in their E-Learning day activities. All teachers will be available via email during the normal school hours as outlined in the state approved E-Learning Day Plan found on the district website. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this decision may cause, but I believe it’s in the best interest of our students and staff members to play it safe with the timing of this next round of winter weather. Thank you for your continued understanding and flexibility! Stay safe, Matt Noyes, Ed.D. LCUSD#9 Superintendent
