Spotlight on Lebanon Greyhound Fall Athletes 9/21
JH Softball
My spotlight players are both 5th graders! They are Macie Hogg and Hayden Venhaus.
Macie wears the #10 jersey. She is one of our B team catchers. She is very impressive behind the plate. Macie is one of the smallest players on the team, but she has the biggest heart for softball. She knows the game well and is a great teammate. Macie is very coachable and always gives 110%. If you see her on or off the field, she is sure to be smiling!
Harper Venhaus wears the #9 jersey which used to be her older sister’s number. She is a great addition to our team with being able to pitch, catch, and field any other position as well. Her pitching is very impressive for a 5th grader using the 12” ball for the first time as well as being pushed back on the mound a few feet. Harper didn’t think she would want to pitch this year, but worked through it and has done great! She has a very good role model in her big sister, Hayden. Both Macie and Harper are multi-sport athletes and have very bright futures as a Lebanon Greyhound!
JH Baseball
Jamaar Brown has been a stand out player the past week. In the last five games Jamaar has 10 hits in 12 at bats, 5 walks, 3 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 6 runs scored. That is an unbelievable hot streak offensively. He is also made numerous great catches in centerfield.
Murphy Brown has had a great attitude all year long. On 8th Grade Day we were down by 6 runs against Aviston before tying the game late. Murphy made a game saving catch in right field on a hard line drive with multiple people on base. The very next inning we won the game on a walk off single. Murphy’s play undoubtedly was a determining factor in the game.
JH Cross Country
Grace Trivett
Grace has a great attitude and is a joy to coach and be around! She’s made amazing progress every race and continues to get better and better every time out.
David Ruth
David is a great teammate. He’s an encourager and a very steady presence on the team. David is always looking for ways to have fun, but continues to get better as he does so.
HS Soccer
Mason Shirley has made the most of his minutes in his first year of high school soccer and scored his first goal at home vs Vandalia.
Parker Konieczny has begun his sophomore campaign in net with an impressive run of 11-0-2 while playing every available minute and recording 3 shutouts.

This week’s Athlete Spotlight goes to Junior Captain, Addison Durbin!
Addison is an outside hitter who brings hustle and effort into everything she does. She is one of those players who seems to be everywhere on the court, using her quickness and determination to make plays others might not get to.
Addison has been a huge asset for us with her passing and ball control, while also being a strong and aggressive hitter at the net. She works hard in every aspect of the game and never seems to take a play off.
As one of our varsity captains, Addison leads through her actions and sets a great example for her teammates. Her combination of quickness, skill, competitiveness, and effort makes her a huge part of our team.
She was also named to the All-Tournament team at the First Baptist Academy volleyball tournament this past weekend!
This week’s Athlete Spotlight goes to JV Setter, Brilee Davenport!
Brilee brings great energy and enthusiasm to our team every time she steps on the court. She is constantly encouraging her teammates, staying positive, and helping keep the energy high throughout practices and games.
Brilee is also someone who hustles to the ball on every play. She never gives up on a ball and is always willing to put in the extra effort to keep the play alive. On top of that, she has been a big weapon for us behind the service line!
Last night against New Athens, Brilee had an incredible night serving, recording 8 ACES! Her ability to serve aggressively and put pressure on the other team was a huge part of her performance.
Brilee’s combination of energy, hustle, determination, and serving ability makes her a great asset to our JV team!

Congratulations to our high school boys soccer team who continues to play well this season. They defeated Wesclin on Saturday 6-0 and improved their record to 11-0-2 and 3-0 in the conference.
Volleyball was able to win their 2nd game of the year on Friday night of the First Baptist Tournament.
JH Baseball and Softball start their Regional play this week.
Baseball's regular season record of 9-7. They received the 3rd seed in their regional and will travel to Shiloh on Wednesday Sept 23rd to play #2 seeded Shiloh at 4:00, the diamond is located at Shiloh school. The Regional Championship will be hosted by the highest seed left at 12:00 on Saturday Sept 26th.

🌟 VIP Breakfast at Lebanon Elementary! 🌟
This month, Lebanon Elementary kicked off our first VIP Monthly Breakfast! ❤️
Our 5th graders had the opportunity to invite a special VIP to join them for breakfast at school. The morning was filled with smiles, conversation, and precious time spent together. We loved seeing our students proudly share this special moment with someone important in their lives! 🥞🍎☕️
A big thank-you to all of our VIPs who joined us and helped make the morning so memorable!

We will have our jh boys and girls basketball and jh cheerleading parent/player/coach meeting at 7:00 this Wednesday Sept 23rd in the high school gym. Any boys or girls who intend to tryout for these sports should be in attendance with their parent or guardian. To tryout, each athlete must have a current athletic physical on file at the school and the online athletic paperwork filled out and submitted. This paperwork is located where you filled out registration for the school year. Sports fees will be collected after tryouts and must be paid before the first game.

Wednesday Sept 23rd 7:00 high school gym: Parent/Player/Coach meeting for Junior High Cheerleading and Junior High Boys and Girls Basketball. These athletes must have a current physical on file with the school, all athletic paperwork filled out online-this is found in the documents you filled out online to register your student, it says 6-12 athletic forms, and there will be a $50 sports fee. We will collect the sports fee after tryouts, this fee must be paid before the 1st game or they will not be allowed to participate
Sept 28 3:15-5:15 in elementary gym, junior high boys basketball will start, if baseball is still playing in the post season, baseball players do not attend unless baseball does not have practice or a game that day

Thank you to everyone who came out for our ceremony for our 9/11 25 year ceremony for Patriot Day. Thank you to our local fire department for bringing their ladder truck and flag. Thank you to our SRO Ray Rowland and Illinois State Trooper Jacob Welch for participating in the ceremony. Also thank you to Diane Lynn and our school band for playing the National Anthem and Taps. I also want to thank our IT person Sylvia Jenzewski for ringing our school bell in the bell tower.

8th grade night was a great success. Softball won over Aviston 1-0. Baseball won over Aviston coming from behind to win 10-9. Great job Greyhounds!
Just a quick reminder that we will have a brief ceremony tomorrow before the high school boys soccer game for Patriot Day starting at 4:15. Everyone is welcome to join us on the high school soccer field. We will have our hs band play the national anthem, we have invited our Lebanon Fire Dept and Lebanon Police Dept to join us. If you or anyone you know who is a 1st responder, would like to join us on the soccer field for this ceremony, they are welcome to join us at 4:15. We will have a brief speech about that day and will finish with Taps being played as we ring our school bell 4 times in honor of the people on the planes used in the attack that terrible day.
We will be honoring our 8th graders for junior high baseball and softball before tonight's game. We will recognize jh baseball at their field at roughly 4:00 and jh softball at their field at roughly 4:15.
The PTO is excited to announce the approval of a Traverse Rock Climbing Wall for the LES gym! This wall allows students to climb horizontally, which provides a safe and engaging way to build strength, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Our high school soccer team has had a great start to the season so far with a 6-0 start as they travel down to play Gibault tonight at Oreter Field in Columbia at 7:00 to beat the heat. I would like to take a second to recognize 2 accomplishments that happened this past week during games.
Congratulations to Senior Deion Washington for becoming the all-time school record holder in goals scored when he scored his 73rd goal of his career against Breese Central. He passes last year's senior Lincoln Hamm who held the record at 72 career goals. Going into tonight's game at Gibault Deion has extended his goal record to 77 goals so far this season. Great job Deion.
We would also like to congratulate our foreign exchange player from Italy, Jocopo Porcu. for scoring his first goal in his 2nd game of the season and actually finished the game against East Alton Wood River with 3 goals and 2 assists. Congratulations Jocopo and welcome to Lebanon!
