Attention all 2nd-4th graders! We will have Basketball Intramurals on these dates in September: 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29. These are held after school until 4:15. All 2nd-4th graders are welcome to sign up. The fee for 6 sessions is $35 and can be paid on myschoolbucks. You can also have your child bring in cash or check in an envelope with your child's name on it marked basketball intramurals. Go to our website lcusd9.org to sign-up under the drop-down menu "Basketball Intramurals". The deadline to sign-up and pay is Wednesday, Sept. 9. Any questions email Lori @ lreinneck@lcusd9.org

Our JH students put their knowledge to the test during lunch yesterday with trivia for a chance to WIN!

Reminder we will have a parent/player meeting tonight at 7:00 in the elementary gym for any girls interested in playing 5th/6th basketball this season. This will be an 8 week season against other 5th/6th grade teams, so a great development program. See you at 7:00!

Good luck to our sports teams today! HS cross country runs at Mascoutah Middle School at 8:00 HS volleyball continues action in the New Athens Tournament around 10:00 this morning HS soccer plays Pinckneyville at 11:00 at Greenville High School as it tries to finish the round robin tournament with a perfect 3-0 record! Let's go Greyhounds!!!!!!!!

Lebanon Greyhounds Junior High School Spotlight Athletes JH Baseball: Coach Donovan Owen Boesen has been a very important player and a big reason why the Greyhounds are off to a good start. He had been very good defensively behind the plate. His framing and blocking balls have saved us numerous runs on the season. Owen is also hitting right at .300 to start the season. Carter Powell is the one of the hardest working players on the team. He is always hustling and does everything that is asked of him everyday. Carter had a big RBI single against St. Rose and helped us secure the victory on the mound by closing the game out. JH Softball: Coach Reinneck My two spotlight athletes are Hayden Venhaus and Kennedie Evans. Both are 8th graders this year and will be missed next year for sure. Hayden is our #1 pitcher. She is throwing really well and has more velocity and power than she did last year. This is due to her working out over the summer in our newly improved weight room. She is dedicated along with many of our athletes. She is #16, batting in the 3rd spot with a .429, 9 hits, 6 singles and 3 triples on the season so far. She brings leadership to the team and gets her players hyped up before and during games. She has a lot to offer our team and our players look up to her. She will definitely be one to watch from here on and throughout her high school career. Kennedie is our #1 catcher. Her and Hayden make a great team together on the field. They have trust and confidence in one another which makes them a force to be reckoned with. Kennedie is very vocal with her teammates. She will not hesitate to let someone know a better way to hit, throw, or field a ball. She is our #24, bats left-handed, she has 6 hits, walked 9 times, and has 9 RBIs. She has very good leadership qualities and her teammates respect and value her. Kennedie starts in the catching position for every "A" game we play. She has endurance and is invaluable to our team, meaning I can't put a price on the job she does. Look-out softball world, these two are going places! JH Cross Country: Coach Nelson Holland Burress Holland shows up every day ready to work hard and get better (bigger, faster, and stronger). Holland encourages her teammates and is developing into a leader on the team, making those around her better as well. Steven Shirley Steven is balancing multiple sports at the same time, along with keeping up in the classroom, but never uses the extra work or being busy as an excuse to give anything less than his best effort when at Cross Country. He's a good teammate and a great kid!

Lebanon Greyhounds Spotlight on High School Athletes HS Volleyball: Coach Becker This week’s Athlete Spotlight goes to Senior Captain, Savanah Pontious! Savanah is a senior setter/RS hitter and a true leader of our varsity squad. She is the kind of player who leads by example both on and off the court. She is always one of the first ones in and one of the last ones to leave, putting in the extra work and doing whatever it takes to help make herself and her teammates better. Savanah is a role model for our younger players and someone her teammates can always look to. Her leadership, dedication, and work ethic are a huge part of what makes her such an important piece of our team. Our second Athlete Spotlight goes to Freshman Libero, Marley! Marley is someone who faces adversity with confidence and never backs down from a challenge. Even as a freshman, she has already shown the leadership and competitiveness it takes to make an impact on this team. Within her first year of high school volleyball, Marley was named Captain of the JV squad, which speaks volumes about the trust her teammates have in her. Marley is a fierce competitor on the court, but what makes her even more special is the teammate she is off the stat sheet. She encourages her teammates, brings energy, and always wants to see the people around her succeed. HS Soccer: Coach Keepper Senior Kyle Noud Kyle has scored 2 goals and has 1 assist(to his younger brother Lucas for his first career high school goal) and had the game winner in the 1st game of the season. Senior Deion Washington Deion has started out strong by scoring 6 goals total in 2 games. 2 goals in the season opener and then 4 goals in the 1st game of the Greenville Tournament against Greenville. HS Cross Country: Coach Thibodeau Sr Keegan Brown Keegan displayed the kind of sportsmanship that everyone should be proud of at the first cross country meet this week at New Athens. Late in the race, Keegan came across a runner from Trico who had hurt her knee and was sobbing and trying to finish. Keegan stopped to help her by putting her arm around her and helping her finish the race. Great job Keegan! Sr Kaiden Wheeler Kaiden worked hard during the off-season by lifting with the summer weightlifting program at the school and then running 30-40 miles per week to prepare for his senior cross country season. He leads the team as the captain through warmups, workouts and stretches and sets an example for his teammates as a hard worker at every practice. Good luck this season Kaiden.

This family-friendly event is designed to bring students, families, and educators together while helping schools raise funds. Fans can enjoy everything from free face painting and airbrush tattoos, a dedicated kids supporter section, and open General Admission Seating.


Ticket Sales Fundraising Challenge

✅ Reach 50 tickets by September 9th at 5:00 PM, and we'll donate 4 tickets to a St. Louis CITY SC match in October for your school to use as a raffle item, staff recognition, student incentive, or another initiative of your choice.

Good morning GREYHOUNDS! Check the information on an upcoming Book Fair at LES!

Come see our volleyball team tonight in their home opener!

For those who are interested in participating on our new girls 5th grade/6th grade girls basketball program, we will have an informational meeting on Monday Aug 31st at 7:00 in the elementary gym. I realize there is a makeup softball "B" game that night at home, but it should be done before the meeting .
Practices will start on Tuesday Sept 1st at 6:00 in the elementary gym. Those in softball can come to practices that do not conflict with anything that softball is doing on that day. The season ends during the last week of October. Games will be at 4:00 or 5:00, this will be just 1 combined grade team so that we have enough players. Games and practices occur Monday, Tues, Wed, Thur.
Athletes must have a physical, online athletic paperwork filled out and a $50 sports fee.

Congratulations to our HS Boys Soccer team on their 7-0 win over Carlinville in their season opener at home yesterday. They will play in Greenville tonight against Greenville at 4:00 in the Greenville Tournament. Also Congratulations to our HS CC team for running well at their season opening meet in New Athens last night On the boys side Kaiden Wheeler medaled by placing 11th and on the girls side, Ava Garbe placed 12th and Addison Durbin placed 14th. Good job Greyhounds!

Summer athletic projects Painted the gym lobby and restrooms Painted the inside and outside of ball diamond dugouts-new roofs coming next summer Bryan finished the dugout storage extension Bryan installed new shot clocks Weight room wall taken down and new set up for our weights-we have a new leg press and leg curl/leg extension machines coming in next month. We may not have an abundance of extra cash like some districts to spend on projects like these but thanks to donations-First Federal Bank, grants-thanks to Amy Venhaus and Kim Emrick for writing and people who want to help the district because they take so much pride in their school. Our head of maintenance Bryan Reising has worked hard to help make improvements to our facilities. His time and dedication is much appreciated. I also want to say a special thank you to Jesse Essenpreis for helping me finish up the dugouts and for helping me re-arrange the weight room to help maximize as much space as possible. He and I have a couple more things that we hope to accomplish this fall within the athletic department-stay tuned...
