Good afternoon LCUSD#9 families,
Our Greyhounds are off and running! Thank you to our students, parents, teachers, and staff for helping us kick off the new school year with such a smooth and successful start. While there are always a few bumps along the way, your support, cooperation, and collective effort have made a tremendous difference—and we are off to a great start because of it.
We were thrilled to see such a strong turnout at our Open House events on Monday and Tuesday evening. A big thank you goes out to our principals and their dedicated teams for organizing welcoming and informative events that helped students and families begin the year feeling confident and prepared. The energy and enthusiasm we’ve seen from students and staff during these first three days has been truly inspiring.
And parents—we haven’t forgotten you! You've also brought energy and enthusiasm (whether putting kids on the bus or waving goodbye in the car line 😊). In all seriousness, we sincerely appreciate your patience and flexibility with the new drop-off and pick-up procedures. Your understanding and cooperation have made the transition smoother for everyone. Thank you!
The excitement continues on Monday as we welcome our Pre-K and Kindergarten students. This milestone always brings a few tears, plenty of smiles, and a lot of joy as our youngest learners begin their journey. It’s a special time, and we’re looking forward to helping them (and their families) feel comfortable and confident in their new routines.
We know that the beginning of a school year can bring a mix of emotions—excitement, nervousness, anticipation. Please continue to partner with us by keeping the lines of communication open. When we work together with positivity and mutual respect, we can ensure all students have the support they need to succeed.
I’ll be sending monthly updates throughout the school year to keep you informed about district-wide news, highlights, and important dates. You’ll also hear regularly from your child’s teachers and building principals with more timely and specific updates. As always, if I can ever be of assistance to you or your student, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Here’s to a fantastic school year ahead. Let’s make it a great one—together.
Go Greyhounds!
Educationally yours,
Matt Noyes, Ed.D.
LCUSD#9 Superintendent
