LCUSD#9 families,

I hope you enjoyed the three day holiday weekend! It’s hard to believe that we are already halfway through the third grading period. Please help us in reminding your child of the importance of regular daily attendance and work completion. Regular attendance and a positive work ethic are two of the greatest predictors of academic success at any grade level. We want all of our Greyhounds to be set up for second semester success by finishing the third quarter strong!

During the first half of the third quarter, we took our second and third E-Learning Days. Our last day of student attendance is still on track to be a half day on Thursday, May 21st, but that could change as we only have 2 E-Learning Days remaining. As a reminder, our state-approved E-Learning Plan can only be used for a total of 5 days. Any inclement weather cancellations after the 5 E-Learning Days will have to be traditional snow days. Hopefully mother nature cooperates, but I want to make sure everyone is prepared just in case we get more winter weather after the Spring-like days we are enjoying this week.

I have attached a preview of my February Superintendent’s Report to the Board of Education for families and staff members to see. This is the information that I will be reporting to our board at next Thursday’s meeting. The report includes an overview of our finances (both revenue and expenses), in addition to reminders about our first annual community engagement event, Pack the House: Greyhound Edition, and the Illinois 5 Essentials Survey. We need parents/guardians to help our schools by taking the 5 Essentials Survey. As a reminder, if you have students in both buildings, please take the survey once for each school. Thank you for your assistance and support!

I’ll continue sending monthly updates throughout the remainder of the school year to keep you informed about district-wide news, highlights, and important dates. You should also be hearing regularly from your child’s teachers and building principals with more timely and specific updates. As always, if I can ever be of assistance to you or your student, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Go Greyhounds!

Educationally yours,

Matt Noyes, Ed.D.

LCUSD#9 Superintendent
