Good morning LCUSD#9 families,
Happy Monday! Believe it or not, this past Friday was officially the mid-quarter point for the first grading period. Time flies when you are having fun! The vast majority of our Greyhounds are off to a tremendous start this year. Thank you to our students and staff for such a positive start to the 26-27 school year, under the direction of their new building principals, Mr. Stewart and Mrs. Jackson. I would like to encourage our parents/guardians to stay engaged by keeping a close eye on their student’s academic progress. Mid-quarter grades should be available to view in PowerSchool by the end of the day on Wednesday.
This week, we have our first half-day school improvement planning day on Wednesday. Please be reminded that LJHS/LHS students will be dismissed at 11am and LES students will be dismissed at 11:10am on Wednesday. This year on the last day of the first grading period, which is Friday, October 9th, there will be no student attendance, as teachers attend training on a planned teachers’ institute day that particular day.
Soon, we’ll be celebrating homecoming week. Don’t forget to check out the soccer and volleyball homecoming games on Thursday, October 1st and the annual homecoming parade on Friday, October 2nd. We’d love to see lots of school spirit in our schools and community that week! Additional details are listed below under important dates and information.
I’ll continue sending monthly updates throughout the school year to keep you informed about district-wide news, highlights, and important dates. You should also be hearing regularly from your child’s teachers and building principals with more timely and specific updates. 26-27 School Calendar - daily dismissal times are listed at the bottom of the calendar.
Reminder on school fees for the 26-27 year - These fees should be paid on My School Bucks or by dropping a check off in the office at your earliest convenience.
School Times for the 2026-2027 School Year
LJHS/LHS - 7:45-2:40 (7:45-1:20 on Wednesdays) - 11:00am on ½ Days
LES - 8:00-2:50 (8:00-1:30 on Wednesdays) - 11:10am on ½ Days
Important Health Information & Reminders
All Kindergarten, Sixth Grade, and Ninth Grade students (along with any students who are new to the district) will need to have a current physical and immunizations on file for the 26-27 school year.
All Kindergarten, Second Grade, Sixth Grade, and Ninth Grade students will need to have a current dental exam on file for the 26-27 school year.
Please make sure to get all past due physicals, immunization records, and dental exams to the school nurse ASAP to avoid being excluded from school.

School Breakfast and Lunch
Our district qualified for the CEP Breakfast and Lunch Program again this year, so all students can eat breakfast and lunch at school for free! Any student who would like to purchase an extra entree or an additional snack will need to have money in their My School Bucks account or cash to pay for the extras, as there will be no charging this year. The free lunch and breakfast program is a tremendous opportunity for our students, and we hope they will take advantage of it.
