Good morning LCUSD#9 families,

The first quarter of the school year flew by rather quickly and is coming to a close today. As a reminder, today is an early dismissal day for our district. All LCUSD#9 students will be dismissed at the following times today:

  • LJHS/LHS Dismissal - 11:00AM

  • LES Dismissal - 11:15AM

We will be back in session on Tuesday, October 14th, after the three-day holiday weekend.

Last week, students and staff showed their school spirit for Homecoming Week, which was highlighted by our annual homecoming parade and homecoming soccer and volleyball games on Thursday. Thank you to our athletic booster club, the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, area businesses, community members, and our LCUSD#9 families for helping to promote and celebrate our Greyhounds last week! We would certainly appreciate your continued support throughout the remainder of the year, as small town school spirit is a contagious source of pride!

Speaking of pride, I want to recognize and give a special shout out to our junior high softball team. The girls and coaches made us all proud by capping off an outstanding 2025 season with an SIJHSAA Regional Championship, as they advanced to the state tournament. Congratulations on a job well done!

This month we celebrated Custodian Appreciation Day on October 2nd. Thank you to our custodial crew of Darryl, Vic, Jeremy, Earl, and Les for keeping our buildings safe and clean. We appreciate their efforts under the direction of Mr. Bryan Reising! One of Bryan’s most recent projects has been helping us to spruce up the area outside of our greenhouse. Thank you to all of the families and donors who have helped to make this greenhouse beautification project possible. It’s starting to take shape and looking great. Attached are a few pictures.

October is also National Principals Month, and we’ll celebrate Illinois Principal Appreciation Week the week of October 20-24. Please join me in celebrating and thanking our two building principals, Mrs. Emrick (LJHS/LHS) and Mrs. Seely (LES) for their hard work and dedication to their students and staff members. We appreciate you!

HELP WANTED: Please reach out to District Secretary, Lisa Hardy (lhardy@lcusd9.org) or one of our building principals (jeseely@lcusd9.org or kemrick@lcusd9.org) if you are interested in joining our team. We are looking for both volunteer and paid part-time and full-time assistance in the following areas:

  • Paraprofessionals - $15.00/hour

  • Food Service Workers and Subs -$15.00/hour

  • Custodial Subs -$15.00/hour

  • Substitute Teachers - $120/day

Email Lisa (lhardy@lcusd9.org) or give her a call at 618-537-4611 to learn more about joining the team!

Finally, don’t forget to sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences to meet with your child’s teacher(s) and go over his/her progress so far this year. There is no school for students on our two parent-teacher conference days this year, as conferences will be held from 12:00-7:00PM on Thursday, October 23rd and from 8:00AM-3:00PM on Friday, October 24th. We value and appreciate your partnership a great deal, and these annual conferences are a great way to meet face-to-face, while keeping the communication lines open between home and school.

I’ll continue sending monthly updates throughout the school year to keep you informed about district-wide news, highlights, and important dates. You should also be hearing regularly from your child’s teachers and building principals with more timely and specific updates. As always, if I can ever be of assistance to you or your student, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Go Greyhounds!

Educationally yours,
Matt Noyes, Ed.D.
LCUSD#9 Superintendent
