Valid Type 73 certificate

Three years of successful teaching experience (preferred) 

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL:

To help students overcome problems that impede learning; to assist them in making educational, occupational, and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as mature and responsible men and women.

Support Kindergarten through post-secondary students in maximizing their academic, college/career, social/emotional growth and preparedness for adult life.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Registers students new to the school and orients them to school procedures and the school’s varied opportunities for learning.

Aids students in course and subject selection.

Obtains and disseminates occupational information to students.

Maintains student records and protects their confidentiality.

Works to provide students opportunities in lieu of dropping out. 

Provides student information to colleges and potential employers according to provisions of the Board of Education policy on student records.

Coordinate and assist in scheduling college visits and job shadowing opportunities. 

Works with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems related to such problems as home and family relations, health, and emotional adjustment

Assists with coordination, analysis and dissemination of information for state and local testing and assessment programs. 

Confers with parents whenever necessary. 

Supports students to reintegrate into the classrooms/schools after disciplinary action. 

Maintains an updated document outlining counselor information and support to provide to families and the community. 

Offers guidance and information as related to different career paths and fields of study.

Consults with administration on creation of master schedule.

Provide classroom (library time) lessons for developmental and success needs of students and build conflict resolution skills in students. 

Other duties as assigned by administration.

*** A minimum of 18 hours of work will be required in the summer.  Additional hours may be needed to complete the required summer responsibilities.  In that case, additional days will be mutually agreed upon and approved by the administration.  Summer work will be compensated per diem, as described in the collective bargaining agreement.  

Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.  

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated according to the provisions of the State of Illinois and the Board of Education policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. An evaluation rubric will be used.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  


A. INSTRUCTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS

  1. Acts as a case load manager for IEP

  2. Participates in IEP meetings as requested 

  3. Prepares to share student progress, as well as recommend program goals and objectives.

  4. Implement and oversee the management of and compliance with students’ IEPs

  5. Modifies the general education curriculum for students with disabilities based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.

  6. Communicates expectations for high levels of learning by students.

  7. Regularly assess students’ knowledge and skills.

  8. Specifies lesson purposes and learning objectives and tailors to students’ IEPs

  9. Provides learning tasks of appropriate difficulty level for the students.

  10. Relates new content to previously presented material and to students’ prior knowledge.  

  11. Teaches clearly, audibly, precisely and fluently while keeping to the topic.

  12. Instructs with a variety of methods: lecture, modeling, demonstrating, experimenting, role playing, eliciting.

  13. Teaches accurate principles, concepts, rationale, and applications as well as specific content.

  14. Provides students with immediate feedback on their learning, performance, and progress.

  15. Requires students to recall, explain, compare, contrast and evaluate information.

Perform tort risk management duties as set forth in the District’s Risk Management Plan, including identifying and implementing techniques to reduce liability exposure and to monitor the effectiveness of the implemented techniques while overseeing the District’s compliance with special education issues, and other tort duties that may be assigned

PARAPROFESSIONAL

Lebanon CUSD #9 is looking for paraprofessionals! What is a Paraprofessional?

A paraprofessional is a specially trained and certified educational worker who helps teachers and students in the classroom. They provide instructional support to teachers and students, helping them understand and learn different subjects like math, science, English, and social studies. Paraprofessionals are a valuable part of the education process. They help to ensure that instruction is efficient and effective by providing support in several ways. Their main responsibilities involve assisting with instruction, providing support during testing, working with students with special needs, managing classrooms, and generally bringing positive energy into the learning environment. Paraprofessionals may also help with other tasks such as grading papers, preparing materials for lessons, supervising students during lunch or recess, or providing guidance to students who need extra help. They are an important part of the school’s staff and play an essential role in helping create a safe learning environment for all students.
