Good morning LHS. This is a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to make schedule changes. Please remember students must have a written note or an email to make the changes. Phone calls are not permitted. Also, preregistration will start soon. Start thinking about the classes you want next year.

Hello. Just a friendly reminder that meal pick up is today until 11:00am at LHS and LES. We will also have a meal pick up at Summerfield Firehouse from 9:00-10:00am. As a reminder, meals are FREE for all students including regular pay and reduced pay. Please take advantage of this FREE meal program. Make it a great day!

Parents/Guardians,
In an attempt to organize and accelerate the pick-up process after school each day, I would like to gather some information from you all. If your child will be a REGULAR parent pick-up in the afternoons, you will be provided with a Car Rider Tag to hang from your rearview mirror. Please email the building secretary, Ann-Marie Vandeloo at amv@lcusd9.org. I need you to communicate to her your: child(ren)'s name, grade, and teacher. If you have multiple students attending LES, list all of them. We will give the Car Rider Tag to the eldest student here. If you can communicate that to her by this Thursday, we will be able to distribute those tags to your student(s) on Friday and Monday.
There will be an example Car Rider Tag attached to the tag that you will receive. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions in regards to this process. Thank you.

Materials/Textbook pickup for all 2nd semester-only classes takes place today from 12:00-4:00 today. Students may also drop off materials from their first semester classes during this time period as well. This pick-up time is especially important for students who are remote learners for 3rd quarter, or who attend classes on 'B' days.
Students who are enrolled in the following classes should be picking up materials today:
Driver Ed
Health
Civics
Psychology
Geography
World History

High school students who wish to make a schedule change must have a parent note. No note not changes, phone calls will not be allowed per handbook. Changes will only be allowed Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

Attention all 6th-12th students who have a 2nd semester-only class:
Pick up of supplies/materials for your new class will be on Monday, January 4th, from 12:00-4:00 in the HS gym. Please enter through the rear (South) entrance of the gymnasium for materials.
Thanks to all of you who returned your 1st semester-only class materials! We are still missing materials/textbooks from some of our students who had 1st semester-only classes. It is critical that these items be returned to ensure that all students have the materials they need to begin their 2nd semester classes. If you still need to return items to us, you may bring them to the office on Monday morning, or bring them with you when you come to pick up the materials for your 2nd semester class from 12:00-4:00.
Thank you for your help!!

Dear LCUSD9 Families and Staff,
While this school year has been a challenge, I hope you have many things for which you are thankful this holiday season. I am personally grateful for:
Our D9 students who have demonstrated positive attitudes as they navigate new learning models and protocols,
Our D9 parents who have changed their schedules and work in partnership with staff,
Our teachers, certified staff, and support staff for their extra efforts and willingness to adapt lessons and job responsibilities,
Nurse Tracie who works many hours to help students and families stay well,
Our custodial and building staff for keeping buildings clean, sanitized, and safe,
Our technology department who ensure tools are available for remote learning,
Our board of education for their leadership, and
Our community who supports public education and our schools.
This has been a challenging year for everyone. When faced with challenges and crises, it is more important than ever to share gratitude and express thanks. I encourage you to reach out to someone in D9 to share your gratitude. It could be a teacher, a staff member, or a fellow parent who supports or inspires you. By doing so we will not only continue to get through this together, but we will help one another thrive in the face of this year’s challenges.
Please be safe over this holiday season. We can't wait to have the students return to campus on Tuesday 01/05/21!

Good Morning LES Families!
On the evening of Monday, December 21, 2020, from 6:00-7:00 PM the LES PTO and Title I program will be sponsoring the "LES Drive-Thru Hot Cocoa Party!"
This drive-thru will flow very similar to the reverse parade that we held back in August. The only difference will be that it will take place in the front parking lot instead of the back lot this time.
As vehicles pull through the parking lot and proceed around. There will be greeters waving to the vehicles. We will have baggies prepared to handout to every child in each vehicle, whether they are LES or not! Also, there just might be somebody special in the line waving to the vehicles.
Just like last time, we are asking you to remain inside of your vehicles and don't stop to have individual conversations, so as not to hold up the procession. Hope to see all LES families roll through here on Monday evening between 6:00-7:00 PM. Have a great day! Thank you.

Hello. The end of the semester is approaching fast and we will once again open up student in-person choice. Next semester will begin with the same current blended A & B attendance schedule. Students that are eligible for 2 days of in person will remain in that format. Students with special needs or at risk will also have the same current choice of 4 days of in person per week. All students will remain in their current plan unless you need to change from remote to in-person instruction. Please contact your building principals only if you plan to CHANGE to in-person or at anytime want to change to full remote. In person choice will remain open until Friday, 12/18 at noon. We will continue to monitor Covid numbers closely and determine if changes of in person attendance are needed. Please remain flexible as plans may change quickly at anytime. We know that part time attendance is difficult but this model has helped us continue to keep our doors open. Happy Holidays!

LES Families,
As previously communicated on Tuesday, the district's technology department will perform a regularly scheduled bi-annual maintenance check on them and update them over the Winter Break.
For safety and sanitary reasons, please place your I-Pad in a gallon storage bag or plastic bag, with your student's and teacher's names attached to it.
Remote students should bring their I-Pads to the school no later than 3:30 PM on Friday 12/18. At that time the office will be closed for the winter break.
I understand that students that attend in-person on A only days may have more work to complete up until the end of the week. Parents, if you need to hold onto the device until the end of the week, that is fine. But please communicate that to your child's teacher. The office will be open until Friday at 3:30.
Students that attend school on Friday (B-days) can just plan to leave their I-Pads at school with their teachers at the end of the day.
Parents, the chargers DO NOT need to be brought in with the devices to perform this update and maintenance check.
If your student's I-Pad is not turned in before the break, it will not receive an update and maintenance check until after it is returned at the end of the school year.
Your student will receive the same I-Pad back upon their return on the 1st week of January.

Attention all LCUSD 9 students who are enrolled in a 1st semester-only class!!
Book/material drop off will take place on Wednesday, December 16th. Supply drop off will be done through the back entrance of the HS gymnasium. Remember to wear your masks when you come to drop off materials.
Some of your teachers may be asking you for materials prior to Wednesday.

Meal pick up today until 11:00 at Lebanon High School and Lebanon Elementary School. Also meal pick up at Summerfield until 10:00 at Fireman's Hall. Hope to see you soon.

Greetings LES Families! We really need the participation with the WizFit Challenge to increase. We don't have many students participating yet. We really need you all to get registered AND to watch the videos! You get FREE items just for watching the videos! The challenge ends on 12/14/2020. Let's go Greyhounds!!!

Any LES students that are in possession of a District #9 provided I-Pad will be required to bring in and leave the device with their teacher on their last day of attendance next week. The district's technology department will perform a regularly scheduled bi-annual maintenance check on them and update them over the Winter Break. Your student will receive the same I-Pad back upon their return on the 1st week of January. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this process.

LES families: If you receive a request for a Two-Factor Authentication code, you need to bring your iPad to LES to let our tech support correct the issue. Questions or concerns, please call the office - 537-4553. Thank you.

Due to the recent state wide and local area Covid events, we will be holding at our current student phase-in-plan. We will be adding a few more at-risk/failing students on Monday. We feel that it is not feasible to add the full amount of students scheduled on November 23 as planned. We will also not bring back all students scheduled to return on December 7th. We will maintain the current A/B 50% model, with the possibility of reducing student numbers and/or going full remote if needed. We will be monitoring our local Covid numbers and evaluate if we need to change plans at any time. Please remain flexible as we try to balance student needs and local Covid events. More information will be available online soon or feel free to contact your building principal. We hope to return to our original plans very soon.

Attention Lebanon Athletes: All IHSA sports and activities were temporarily paused today based on the newest state mitigations.
“All IHSA sports and activities will cease by November 20 for what we hope is a short-term pause,” said IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson. “Given the rising COVID-19 cases in our state and region, we support the Governor’s mitigations and believe it is imperative for everyone in the state to do their part in following them so that we can return to high school sports participation as soon as possible.”

Attention Seniors! Tomorrow, Nov. 20th, is the last day to submit your baby pictures and Senior quotes. Here is the link to the form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1GyHNgk7KnFmH7cgeOoyBscU_R0H7E_uEXUKj4NPyJ54/edit

LES Parents/Guardians,
As we all are aware of, Halloween is next Saturday. Unfortunately, due to restrictions stemming from COVID-19 we will be unable to allow our students to celebrate the holiday here at school by putting on costumes, having classroom parties, or conducting a parade. While that fact saddens me, I believe that we can offer a minor concession. I would like to offer the opportunity for the students to wear their "Halloween-themed" shirts to school on Tuesday (A-group) and Thursday (B-group) of next week! We will snap a few pictures within the building and post them on our website and Facebook pages. Keep in mind that these shirts should be school appropriate. If your child's shirt is deemed inappropriate, based on our district handbook, we will call home in order for a replacement shirt to be brought to school. Remember that your child should not wear or bring a costume to school on those days. Your student should not wear any Halloween masks, face paint, or head dress/wear on those days either. Thank you!

Tomorrow is the last day of Red Ribbon Week, wear as much red as you can tomorrow!

Good Morning Lebanon!

The school board, administration and teacher representatives had a very good meeting concerning current and future instructional plans for LCUSD9. We appreciate the efforts in remaining flexible in this difficult time. Moving forward we understand and maintain that student and staff safety is important. We are also aware that blended learning is new to all of us and will need to continue to improve our instructional delivery system for our students. We are looking into various options, models and possibly adding additional services in the near future. We will also be posting potential timelines for additional services very soon. In addition, we will be building upon and improving delivery of instruction. Please understand we are trying to balancing safety and potential future schedule changes appropriately. We understand there are a number of different school models, but each with trade offs as well. We will communicate plans very soon. Thank you for remaining flexible.

Hello. As we prepare for students to return to in-person instruction, many questions will arise. Know that our first priority will be the safety of students and staff. Additionally, we have updated our web page at LCUSD9.org with some information and Q & A reference for each school building. For any additional questions feel free to reach out via email or phone to the school building your child or children attend. As referenced on our web page, with the adjustment of A/B days and 50% student capacity Blended Learning Plan, we know families may want to change learning plans. If you are happy with your selection prior to lock down nothing further is needed. Any changes must be made prior to Friday, September 18th. After September 18th, students will not be able to move from remote to in-person until 2nd quarter. Thank you for your support. Go Greyhounds!

For our first two days of student attendance, “A” students will attend on Thursday 9/24 and “B” students will attend on 9/25.

Hello! Just a reminder about our Blended Learning schedule starting next week Thursday 9/24/2020:
“A” schedule students have last name A-L and attend classes in-person on Monday and Tuesday.
“B” schedule students have last name M-Z and attend classes in-person on Thursday and Friday.
For more information, go to lcusd9.org and click on the link “Blended Learning Plan”.

LCUSD #9 will be using the in-person or remote selections you chose before the August 7 county lock down as your student's selection for instruction. With the adjustment of A/B days and 50% capacity Blended Learning Plan, we know families may want to change. If you are happy with your selection prior to the lock down, nothing further is needed. If you would like to change your selection, please contact your building principal prior to this Friday, September 18, 2020. After September 18th, students will not be able to move from remote to in-person until second quarter. Thank you. Hello Lebanon School Community. As we finalize plans for the 2020-2021 school year we just wanted to share a brief overview of the upcoming school year. Our first priority is the safety of our students and staff. We will continue to work with the State Board of Education and Health Department to provide an optimal learning environment. Additionally, we have determined that the best course will be to have in person instruction each and every day for all students. We will also be offering a remote learning option as well. Tentative plans may change due to state mandates at anytime, so please remain flexible. School will begin for students on Wednesday, August 19th. In order to comply with phase 4 restrictions we will need to adjust school arrival and departure times in order to allow all students to attend each day. We will have a finalized schedule and more details by early next week. Thank you for your continued support!
Yours in education,

SOCIALLY DISTANCED EDITION
We are excited to announce that the LEBANON SCHOOLS yearbook signing tradition is alive and it’s fully digital to suit our socially distanced students.
Jostens has just launched a new platform, Yearbook Digital Signing Pages, that gives every student in our school the chance to create a virtual signing page section for their yearbook. After setting up an account, they invite friends to leave messages and signatures. This is free for every student whether they purchased a yearbook or not.
Register an account today and get started collecting messages.

Our teachers have prepared packets, emails and Google Classroom to help access academic opportunities. Please do your best to help your student work on the material over break.
We will have packet pick up from 5:00-7:00pm tonight, March 16th and from 8:00am-noon tomorrow, March 17. Correction...please note, we will be closing from Tuesday, March 17th-Monday, March 30th. More information to follow soon. Thank you

The Governor of Illinois has mandated all schools in Illinois close March 17-31, due to the Corona Virus. We hope to have more information soon. School will be in session on Monday March 16th. We will close school, cancel all activities and sports from Tuesday March 17-March 31.

Good afternoon Lebanon CUSD#9 stakeholders,
The COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has become the issue discussed in every location across the country at this time. Lebanon CUSD#9 administration, nurse and County Health Department have been working on preventative measures to reduce the likelihood of exposure and transmission within our schools. Recommendations to use good hygiene such as washing hands, not touching your face, and not reporting to school or work if you experience flu-like (cough, fever, respiratory issues or any other signs of illness) symptoms continue to be the focus for each of us. However, it has become evident that additional measures may become necessary to combat the spread.
Currently, school is one of the safest atmosphere for our students. This is a very fluid situation and may change even by the time this correspondence goes out. We will prepare for the worst case scenario, but hope for the best.
We are continuously in contact with the County Health department, which is in contact with local, state and federal officials. As circumstances change, so do our plans. If there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 locally, school closure will likely be one of the first considerations. We plan to have more information about opportunities and/or expectations of continued learning should a prolonged district closure occur. Our commitment at this time is to the safety and wellbeing of all Lebanon CUSD#9 students and staff.
Regarding field trips, extracurricular and curricular activities, we will make decisions based on the risk of exposure for our students and staff. If it becomes evident that participation increases the risk of exposure, we will suspend or cancel as needed. We certainly respect parents’ decisions should they desire to opt out of any activities at this time.
As this situation continues to be fluid, we will be exploring options to meet students’ individual needs to ensure a continuity of education.
Best regards,
Mr. Keeney

They listened as the kindergarten students discussed problem solving during the character education program called Second Step.
