  Parents

Please remember that when your student is sick or will not be at school to call the office (537-4423) the morning of the absence before 10am.  Also a note must be sent with the student the day they return.  All students must check-in and check-out through the main office - otherwise it is an unexcused absence. Parents must call by 4:00 on the day of the student's return to school.

Serves students in grades 9-12 (enrollment of 201)

Students take the Plan Test during the sophomore year.
                                                                           
Students can take the ACT during their junior or senior year

Students take the Prairie State Examination in their junior year.

There are college prep placement classes in English, History, Science, Math and Art.  Dual credit with SWIC is offered with our CP English Class and Electronics Class.

The Following Programs are offered at LHS:
 

Art Club (Focusing on community work and art projects around the school)
Athletics
(Cheerleading, Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball, Golf, Basketball, Bowling, Softball, Baseball, Track)
Band
(open to all students who currently play an instrument or are interested in learning)
Pep Band (select group of students from Band who play traditional march music at ball games)
Marching Band (performs at area parades for competition, took first place in Apple Festival in 1999)
Cedarian (group of students who work on the school year book).
Drama Club (group of students who perform in an annual production)
Explorers (Focus on community service)
Ecology Club (focuses on highway clean up, recycling projects, promote an environmentally safe school)
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (promote positive emotional and spiritual attitude toward athletics and academics)
Model UN (students resolving international conflicts in a mock model United Nations)
National Honor Society (sponsors student activities, membership is based on academic standing, character, service and leadership)
Outlook (LHS's own literary arts magazine. It features short stories, poems, artwork and other creative works by our talented students.)
Pep Club (Promote school spirit)
Saturday Scholars
(meet in February, selected group from each grade based on GPA, enrichment program for academic areas)
Science Olympiad (competes in a regional competition annually which attracts teams throughout the metro-east area. Members of the team compete in over 20 events for medals and the opportunity to move on to the state competition.)
Spanish Club (students raise funds for a scholarship for a graduating student who is majoring in foreign languages)
Student Council (student government with representative from each grade, discuss policies, academics, and activities)
WYSE Worldwide Youth for Science and Engineering (student who compete with other area schools in math, science, technology, and English)
